Attachment Theory in Clinical Practice

Attachment theory tells us that the early interactions between an infant and caregiver establish an internal model that affects the child’s relationships throughout the course of his or her life. In this science-based discussion, Dr. Siegel expounds upon the clinical implications of the field of attachment research, including:
- The neural correlates of attachment and essential functions of the brain,
- The different attachment patterns and how they show up later in life,
- A key assessment instrument that can inform treatment, and
- The primary role of integrative communication in promoting regulation.
By increasing our awareness of how experiences shape the structure of the brain, we can better understand not only why people behave in the ways they do, but also how to create healing, more positive relationships, and overall enhanced well-being.

You will retain access to the course content for as long as it remains available on our platform.
How do I gain access to my course materials and get started?

Our video content cannot be downloaded, but it can be streamed and viewed on any computer, tablet, or mobile device at your convenience. All notes, handouts, and study materials associated with the course, however, are downloadable and printable.
I don’t have a background in biology or science. Will I still be able to understand the content of this course and benefit from it?
Yes! Dr. Siegel has a unique ability to make complex scientific concepts accessible, and our courses are designed to resonate with wide audiences. This workshop has no prerequisites, and a scientific background is not necessary to find value in its teachings: We’re confident that you’ll walk away with plenty of knowledge to apply in your personal and professional life.
